Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress who works in television, film and the theatre. The most famous of her roles is Teri Joe the fiery lawyer on the Showtime show Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe became her stage name after her wedding. As a child, she was a natural actor. When she was in Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics and trained as ballet dancer of classical training. She was a student at an Etobicoke School of the Arts an specialized arts public high school in which she not only danced but studied theater as well. Contractor aged 16 at the time she realized that performing would be her future career. She had danced for over a decade. After she had completed high school, she won an entire scholarship to University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed the Master of Arts in Theatre. She was also a double major in sociology and psychology. Contractor was a participant in the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After a full year of auditions, she was offered the lead part. Her performance was lauded in the 92 plays which she was a part of. She won the award in 2002 for the Best Production of the Year by Canadian Critics. The actor was invited to enroll in Stratford's conservatory course, in which only eight males and four females are selected for a course lasting 20 weeks on the classical stage that she was eager to take. The actor's involvement in the upcoming season of plays was confirmed, and she received the role of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
